Some of the Korean Martial Arts Center’s instructors (past and present) are listed below. Since our staff changes from time to time, this list may not always be up to date. For biographical information on our instructors, scroll down the page.

Grandmaster M.W. Jung
Grandmaster Jung is the owner and chief instructor of the Korean Martial Arts Center. He began martial arts training in the 1960s, studying a variety of styles including Shotokan Karate, Judo, Kenpo, Taekwondo, and informally, more than a dozen Chinese styles, including Shao-lin, Bak-may, Wing-chun, Praying Mantis, and Hung-gar. Around 1967, when Hapkido was beginning to be introduced into America, Jung began studying the art under masters James Voeller and Man-Joon Rho, and later, under Grandmaster Han-Jae Ji and Master Hong-Soo Kim in Korea.

In 1984 Jung was instrumental in bringing Grandmaster Ji to the United States, and assisted him in establishing Sin Moo Hapkido. Master Jung has also trained extensively in Taekwondo since the 1970s, under Grandmaster Byong-Yong Yu, Grandmaster Soo-Woong Lee, and other masters in Korea. Jung currently holds the ranks of ninth-dan in Hapkido, Master in Taekwondo, and Yodan in Judo, and has also earned black belts in Shotokan Karate and Kenpo. He is the former technical advisor for the California State Taekwondo Association, and has trained numerous state and national Taekwondo champions.

Master Jung has appeared in Black Belt magazine, several motion pictures (along with Chuck Norris), and martial arts video games for children (Nintendo, Epix). He is a peace officer for San Mateo county.

Master Stuart Forrest
Mr. Stuart Forrest, the World Martial Arts Union President, teaches Hapkido at KMAC’s school in San Francisco. Mr. Forrest has trained in martial arts for over 30 years, training extensively in Hapkido, Taekwondo, Judo, and a variety of Japanese arts. He is a Master in Hapkido, holds black belts in Judo and Taekwondo, and is Deputy Chief for Adult Probation in San Mateo County, where he is also the head instructor in defensive tactics training for peace officers.

Master Richard Goldstein
Master Goldstein began his Martial Arts Training as a child in Los Angeles and continued studying after moving to the Bay Area in the 1970’s. He has studied various Korean, Japanese and Chinese Martial Arts Systems. He holds ranks in the arts of Hapkido, Taekwondo, Aikido and Wing Chun. He has studied extensively various Weapon Systems and Tai Chi as well. He is continuing to study both areas of Combative and Energy based arts.

Master Ramon Tirona
Ramon Tirona is the chief instructor of KMAC's school in San Leandro, California, and one of KMAC's head coaches for Olympic Style Taekwondo. He has practiced Taekwondo for more than twenty years, and formerly ran his own martial arts school in Alameda, California. He is a Master in Taekwondo, and a former technical advisor for the California State Taekwondo Association.

Master Larry Dorsey
Larry Dorsey teaches Hapkido at KMAC’s headquarters in San Francisco. In the late 1970s he began training in Hapkido under Master M.W. Jung, and later, under Grandmaster Han-Jae Ji. He is a Master in Hapkido and formerly played professional football for the New England Patriots. Mr. Dorsey works as a supervisor for the San Francisco Sheriffs Department.

Master William Ong
William Ong teaches Tai Chi at KMAC's headquarters in San Francisco. He has practiced martial arts for more than thirty years, training in Hapkido, Tai Chi, Taekwondo, Karate, and Arnis. Mr. Ong was instrumental in helping to establish KMAC's martial arts program during the 1970s. He is a Master in Hapkido, holds a black belt in Taekwondo, and is a business tax professional for Matson.

Master Robert Yee
Robert Yee is the chief instructor of KMAC's program at the YMCA in downtown San Francisco. He began his martial arts training in 1974, studying a variety of arts from hard-style Okinawan Karate to the fluid style of Aikido. In 1984 he began training in Hapkido under Master M.W. Jung. Mr. Yee is a certified black belt instructor in Hapkido, and the current Vice President of the World Martial Arts Union.

Master Henry Cruz
Henry Cruz is the chief instructor of KMAC's school in Union City, California. He has practiced martial arts for more than 10 years and is a certified black belt instructor in Taekwondo. A gifted teacher, his students have a strong record of successes in state and national Taekwondo competitions. Mr. Cruz is also the recipient of the "2002 Coach of the Year" award.

Instructor Mike Robertson
Mike Robertson runs the Judo program at KMAC's school in San Leandro, California. He has practiced martial arts for more than thirty years, training in Judo, Jujutsu, Taekwondo, and Hapkido. He holds black belts in several martial arts and received his Judo certification from the U.S. Judo Association. Mr. Robertson is the chair of the automotive technology program at the

Instructor Sonny-Ryan Jung
Sonny-Ryan Jung is the chief instructor of KMAC's program in the Jefferson School, and also teaches at KMAC's headquarters in San Francisco. He has practiced martial arts for more than 15 years, studying Taekwondo Judo, and Hapkido. Mr. Jung is a certified black belt instructor in Taekwondo, and an accomplished competitor and medalist in Olympic Style Taekwondo at the state and national level.

Instructor Bernadette Reyes
Bernadette Reyes teaches adult Taekwondo at KMAC's headquarters in San Francisco. She began Taekwondo training in the mid 1990s, along with her three children. She is a certified black belt instructor in Taekwondo, and has also trained extensively in Hapkido. She is the single-mother of three children, who are accomplished national-level competitors, most notably her son, Brandon Mauricio, who won the 2000 National Junior Olympic Taekwondo Championship.

Instructor Gary Tong
Mr. Gary Tong is the chief instructor of KMAC's youth program at the Stonestown YMCA in San Francisco. He has practiced martial arts for more than 20 years under Master M.W. Jung. He is a certified black belt instructor in Taekwondo. Currently he teaches mathematics at Galileo High School in San Francisco.

Instructor Marlene Jung-Mar
Marlene Jung-Mar teaches Tai Chi at KMAC's headquarters. She has practiced martial arts for more than thirty years, training in Hapkido, Tai Chi, and Taekwondo, and is one of the few women in the bay area to begin Hapkido training during its initial introduction in the 1960s. A caring and generous teacher, she has been instrumental in supporting KMAC's growth for more than three decades, all while raising a family.

Jo-An Aguirre, RN
Jo-An Aguirre is a registered nurse and teaches Kardio Kickbox classes at KMAC's headquarters in San Francisco. She holds a black belt in Taekwondo and has also trained in Hapkido and Tai Chi. Her son, Cody, won the National Junior Olympic Taekwondo Championship in 2000. Ms. Aguirre frequently donates her time to serve on the medical staff at Taekwondo competitions.

Instructor Samir Golubovic
Samir Golubovic holds a black belt in Judo and has been practicing Judo for over four years. Mr. Golubovic is a frequent and accomplished competitor at local tournaments as well as a qualified regional Judo referee. He teaches the children's Judo program at KMAC where he has an exceptional rapport with the youngest members of the KMAC community. He is also a guest instructor for the adult program and continues to train at City College of San Francisco (CCSF).

Chief Instructor Simeon Dondero
KMAC All-Stars San Mateo
Mr. Dondero Has trained in Taekwondo and Hapkido for over 10 years. He is currently a third Dan.

Instructor Glenn M. Goffin
Glenn M. Goffin teaches at Embarcadero Hapkido Club, and has a black belt in Korea Sin Moo Hapkido. He has trained in Hapkido and Taekwondo since 1997, primarily under Master Yee. His martial arts experience includes Krabi Krabong, Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu, and Shotokan Karate.
